The team made up of founding partners Adrian Georgescu and Ionuț Gonț announced that they have obtained a significant victory in court for Dan Mihai Toader, former Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager of the Romanian Post National Company, in a case in which he was accused of committing the crime of abuse of office, with an estimated damage of 2 million euros.
The National Anticorruption Directorate (NAD) prosecutors indicted Dan Mihai Toader for allegedly damaging the Romanian Post S.A., accusing him of having concluded a contract in 2006, through which the company he headed implemented the electronic payment system – bill payment.
Although the prosecution admitted that this contract brought profit to the company, it was considered that if it had been concluded in a different manner, the profit would have been higher, which was interpreted as a loss resulting from Toader’s actions. This remarkable solution reflects not only the extensive experience of one of Romania’s most respected criminal lawyers, but also the well-founded and tailored defense strategy throughout the case.
“I was impressed by the courage and openness to a correct assessment of the situation proved by the judges who solved the case, establishing that the act with which our client was charged was not stipulated by the criminal law. This victory is not only another professional success, but also a reaffirmation of our team’s commitment to defend the rights of our clients with integrity and professionalism”, said Adrian Georgescu, Founding Partner of Georgescu Gont.
“The well-defined defense strategy, which took into account all the particularities of the case and the context of our client over the past decade, contributed to this favourable outcome for our client. As in other large-scale cases, our team was able to identify effective options and find answers to problems that initially seemed impossible to solve”, added Ionuț Gonț, Founding Partner of Georgescu Gont.
